Paulé Wood, User Experience Designer

Hello! I am a leader in experience design with 15+ years of expertise in remote collaboration and optimizing complex, data-driven systems.

Data-driven, brand aware.

I specialize in applying human-centered design to big, juicy, data-driven complex systems, yet I never lose sight that systems are designed for people, and need both metaphorical and literal end-to-end buy-in.

For nearly a decade I have been collaborating locally and remotely with diverse teams on designing experiences for companies like Amazon Last Mile, Earth Economics, and my own start-up Transparent Path.

I have deep experience in quickly intaking, digesting, and understanding a wide variety of areas including global logistics, environmental economics, and big data.

With over three decades of designing for the world’s biggest brands, like T-Mobile, Microsoft, and IBM, I am comfortable creating experiences that are brand-appropriate, engaging, and highly usable.

I have experience with both client-side and agency work, including Artefact, Possible, and Y&R, as well as self-directed project work. I am an active listener, highly adaptable, and a creative problem-solver.

Transparent Path:

Upgrading the food supply chain

Razor-thin margins. Paper records and fax machines. Records systems that were built 15-25 years ago. When foodborne illness triggers a recall, forensic research can take weeks or even months.

How can we trust our food? And how can we prevent $1 trillion of food sent directly from farms to landfills?

I am a co-founder and Director of Experience of a startup that will upgrade the food supply system with three technologies: secure IoT sensors, gathering clean product data and auditing it at the edge, powering predictive algorithms to anticipate supply chain issues before they happen.

Amazon Global Logistics:

Worldwide scope, hyperlocal delivery

Thousands of crowdsourced drivers from all over the world, non-normalized addresses, and cultural and urban idiosyncrasies: I was brought on as a Senior User Experience Lead to help them expand last-mile delivery service into markets in USA, UK, Germany, and India.

I designed consistent, optimized experiences for Amazon Flex, Seller Flex, Ship-with-Amazon, Amazon Pay and other programs. I had to quickly understand the delivery landscape and system breakdowns – both physical and digital – then worked across many teams in AMZL on improvements.

Earth Economics:

Using design thinking and persuasive storytelling with economists

Earth Economics is a nonprofit world leader in natural capital valuation. Scientific and data-driven, Ecosystem Services Valuation provides insight to inform and inspire sustainable decisions that improve outcomes for people, businesses, communities, and natural resources.

I was the Lead User Experience Designer and Researcher and spent many hours with the economists and analysts observing and documenting complex workflows, then translated those findings into a simplified UI that supported analysis of data.

Our rallying cry was: How can we make this better than Excel?"

Paulé doesn't just provide exceptional user experience design for software. They believe in—and exhibit—good user experience principles in their interactions with others. They engage with developers and testers to make sure they aren’t designing a technical implementation nightmare. They’re aware of and respectful to project timelines and the need to triage. While they work to figure out solutions, they never let you lose sight of who the product is supposed to serve.
